Who are we and what do we do?

Aboriginal Hostels Limited is a company owned and financed by the Australian Government. Through our National Office located in Canberra and eight Regional Offices, we operate and fund hostel accommodation throughout Australia. We have a policy of offering employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Applicants for the advertised position will need to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies.



Position Details

Kitchenhand/Domestic
APS Level 1
$35,812 - $38,004 pa, plus superannuation
Full-Time, 37.50 hours per week

Akangkentye Hostel

Position Number 8232

Duties

Under direction of the Hostel Manager ensure that a high level of cleanliness is maintained throughout all areas of the hostel, which includes preparation of all rooms, stock control of all linen including the changing and washing. Other tasks involve food preparation, cooking and service.



Conditions of Employment

The successful applicant will be required  hold a valid Working With Children Check prior to commencement in addition to satisfactorily completing a Police Records Check and medical assessment during the three month probation period.
