Hostel Name Origin:
This Hostel is named in recognition of the great contribution Tonky Logan (1952-2008) made to his local Townsville community. Tonky, originally from Hughenden in north-west Queensland, became a well-known Townsville radio presenter and country music legend. His country music program, ‘Tonky's Country’, grew from a two-hour request program to a four-hour national show that ran for almost 14 years on Townsville's 4K1G radio station. Tonky also inspired many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to achieve their personal and career goals.
