The Temporary Employment Register is open for candidates to register their interest for employment with Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL). The temporary employment register enables AHL to source suitably skilled and experienced individuals to fill short term or temporary vacancies. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 18 months. Applications will remain valid until 30 June 2018. This is a register of interest only. There is no guarantee that an offer of employment will be made whilst your application remains on the register.

Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) provides safe, comfortable, culturally appropriate and affordable hostel accommodation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who must live away from home; enabling access to education, employment, health and other essential services. AHL operates 47 hostels across Australia, offering more than 2,000 beds to Indigenous Australians each night of the year in urban, regional and remote areas. Since 1973 AHL has maintained its commitment to delivering short term accommodation to Indigenous Australians who need to be away from their country to access services and economic opportunity.

AHL’s key vision is to improve Indigenous quality of life through the delivery of accommodation. AHL’s service delivery network consists of three regions: Western Australia, Central Australia (NT and SA), and Eastern Australia (QLD, NSW & VIC). AHL employs a workforce dedicated to delivering accommodation services, offering employment opportunities across a wide range of functions in areas such as:

To be eligible for employment with AHL, applicants must meet AHL’s requirements for the following conditions:

  • Hold Australian citizenship;
  • Satisfactory National Criminal History Check;
  • Satisfactory Working with Children Check, where applicable;
  • Satisfactory Medical Assessment; and,
  • Satisfactorily complete a Probation period.
