Tariff
Accommodation tariff rates are set at affordable levels for Indigenous residents as follows: - Employed Residents
Tariff is set at 25% of the national weekly wage
- Dependent Children over 1 Year
Tariff is set at a flat rate of $5 a day
- Unemployed
Tariff is tied to the level of pension or allowances paid to residents by Centrelink (Tariff is 65% of these)
Special tariffs apply for: - Secondary Students
- Residents on the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme
- Residents who have their tariff paid by their employer, a government agency or a community agency.
Each hostel can advise you on what you will need to pay and payment is required before you stay. Rates are reviewed regularly to take into account increases in both the national average weekly wage and Centrelink benefits. Why AHL charges for accommodation
The Australian Government funds AHL to provide affordable hostel accommodation to meet the needs of Indigenous people. The funding from the Government does not cover the full cost of operating hostels.
Money paid by residents helps AHL to meet the full cost of providing the accommodation and 3 meals a day services.
