Eligibility for employment:
To be eligible for employment with AHL, applicants must meet AHL’s requirements for the following conditions:
- Hold Australian Citizenship
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Working with Children Check in the relevant state or territory (predominantly NT, NSW, VIC, QLD)
- Satisfactory Medical Assessment/Fitness for Duty
Pre-employment checks for successful applicants will require the following identification:
- Australian state/territory Birth Certificate or Current Australian Passport or Certificate of Australian Citizenship and three AHL nominated forms of identification.
Qualifications:
A number of hostel positions require mandatory qualifications/training, including:
Housekeeper (Cleaner/Domestic) – Chemical Handling Training through AHL's approved supplier (currently Jaysol) (or ability to complete within the first six months of employment)
Cook/Kitchenhand – Food Safety Handling Certificate (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment)
Residential Youth Worker – First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment); Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care provided through Boarding Training Australia, or an equivalent/higher qualification (or ability to obtain in the first 12 months of employment). A valid driver's/bus licence may also be required.
Hostel and Assistant Hostel Manager, Head and Deputy Head of Boarding – First Aid Certificate; Emergency Warden Training; Food Safety Supervisor Certificate; (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment). A valid driver's licence may also be required.
Night Attendant – First Aid Certificate; Emergency Warden Training; (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment)
