A diverse and inclusive workplace, attractive remuneration package including generous employer superannuation contributions (currently at 15.4%), Salary Packaging Program for employee superannuation (salary sacrifice) contributions and novated vehicle leases, PLUS an additional benefit of up to $15,900 per FBT Year to salary sacrifice rent, mortgage or living expenses - this benefit is available to eligible* staff due to AHL's status as a Public Benevolent Institution

Eligibility for employment:

To be eligible for employment with AHL, applicants must meet AHL’s requirements for the following conditions:

  • Hold Australian citizenship
  • Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
  • Satisfactory Working with Children Check in the relevant state or territory (predominantly NT, NSW, VIC, QLD)
  • Satisfactory Medical Assessment/Fitness for Duty
  • COVID-19 vaccinations (NT, VIC and WA only)

 

Qualifications:

A number of hostel positions require mandatory qualifications/training, including:

Housekeeper (Cleaner/Domestic)Chemical Handling Training through AHL's approved supplier (currently Jaysol) (or ability to complete within the first six months of employment)

Cook/Kitchenhand Food Safety Handling Certificate (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment)

Residential Youth Worker – First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment); Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care provided through Boarding Training Australia, or an equivalent/higher qualification (or ability to obtain in the first 12 months of employment). A valid driver's/bus licence may also be required. 

Hostel and Assistant Hostel Manager, Head and Deputy Head of Boarding First Aid Certificate; Emergency Warden Training; Food Safety Supervisor Certificate; (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment). A valid driver's licence may also be required.

Night Attendant First Aid Certificate; Emergency Warden Training; (or ability to obtain in the first six months of employment)
