Ray Fordimail was a tribal leader and well respected Elder of the Jawoyn people from the Katherine area. He was actively involved in Aboriginal affairs and had a particular interest in the development of housing and hostel programs for the Aboriginal people in the Territory. He worked with the Northern Land Council, the local Kalano Association and was Director of the Baruwel and Mimi Arts and Crafts enterprises. Ray also fought for land rights to save Coronation Hill and other areas from mining companies wanting to develop the Jawoyn traditional land.
AHL acknowledges the Jawoyn People as the traditional owners of the land on which we operate the hostel. AHL pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. |
