Anthony ‘Tony’ William Mundine OAM was born in 1951 and is one of the Australia’s boxing legends and one of the greatest Indigenous fighters.  He held many titles in Australian boxing.  He is the only Australian boxer to compete in 4 weight divisions.  In 1986 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for ‘service to sport particularly to boxing and to Aboriginal youth’.  He was the winner of the Ella Awards for Lifetime Achievement in Indigenous sports at ‘The Deadly Awards’ in 2004.
