Yumba means ‘Town Camp’. It was the first AHL hostel to be built in 1974. Originally the hostel was called ‘Yumbi’ which is masculine. It was later renamed to Yumba in 1982 (which includes women).
AHL acknowledges the Yuggera People as the traditional owners of the land on which we operate the hostel. AHL pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
