2025 AHL NAIDOC Awards event

The 2025 AHL NAIDOC Awards ceremony, held at our Kirinari Newcastle Hostel on Wednesday 13 August, was an exciting opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our incredible employees and students across the AHL network. 

We are pleased to announce our 2025 AHL NAIDOC Award recipients. 

2025 Person of the Year Award was awarded to Cristal Morris, in recognition of her outstanding leadership, integrity and positive impact. 

2025 Lifetime Achievement Award was award to Ron Jan in recognition of the many years of service and lasting contribution Ron has made to the wellbeing and advancement of First Nations people. 

2025 Youth Award was awarded to Selwyn Kelly from Grey St Hostel. This award celebrates Selwyn’s leadership, resilience, and positive influence at the hostel, school, or in the community.

A special mention was awarded to Orlando Gordon from Fordimail Hostel.

2024 Sportsperson Award was awarded to Terrence Smith at Kirinari Hostel Newcastle. This award recognises the great things Terrence is doing in sport, including his dedication, and outstanding sportsmanship.

A Special Mention was award to Kalias Rami at Fordimail Hostel. 

2025 Education Award was awarded to Shakina Frank at Tennant Creek Hostel. This award recognises a Shakina’s focus on learning and making strong progress in her education.

A Special Mention was award to Noah Moran at Kirinari Sydney.

2025 Creative Talent Award was awarded to Malakai McDonald at Fordimail Hostel. This award celebrates Malakai’s talent and passion for the creative arts.

A Special Mention was award to Louisa Mene at Canon Boggo Hostel.
