Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for reliable and motivated Casual Hostel Workers to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our William T Onus Hostel in Melbourne.

Multiple casual roles are available, including:

Cooks & Kitchenhands

  • Prepare meals and dining areas for residents.
  • Manage stock – including receiving, rotating, and monitoring food and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.

Housekeepers

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks to maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the hostel.
  • Maintain adequate cleaning supplies and linen, ensuring appropriate storage.
  • Regularly inspect rooms for repairs and maintenance needs and report issues to the Hostel Manager or Assistant Manager.

 

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the issues affecting First Nations peoples.

While experience in a similar industry is desirable, what matters most is your ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Prior to engagement, you are required to:

  • Provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
  • Undergo, obtain and maintain a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
  • Meet Fitness for Duty requirements.
  • Hold and maintain VIC Working with Children Check.
