Gohar Rind is a Badimaya Yamatji man from the Murchison region of Western Australia and an entrepreneurial business leader who has built and scaled successful Aboriginal-owned enterprise from the ground up. He is the Founder and Managing Director of the Yira Yarkiny Group, a Supply Nation Certified, 100% Aboriginal-owned organisation he has grown into three operating businesses spanning physical security, cybersecurity and managed IT services — including Intaris, Western Australia’s first Indigenous-owned cybersecurity firm.
This entrepreneurial drive is grounded in more than 12 years inside ASX Top 10 organisations, including Woodside Energy, Rio Tinto and BHP, across mega project supply chains, cyber security and operational technology. That experience gives Gohar a sophisticated command of large-scale procurement, commercial contracting and risk, and an understanding of how major industry operates — insight he applies in competitive tendering for flagship infrastructure programs and in negotiating partnership and vendor agreements on strong commercial terms.
Gohar is a passionate advocate for Aboriginal economic growth, championing genuine participation and self-determination. His advocacy extends to education — creating training and employment pathways that open careers in technology and trades for Aboriginal people — and to health and community wellbeing, including his service on the Board of Avivo, a not-for-profit provider of care and support services, and his support of Indigenous youth through community and sporting programs.
Gohar pairs this commercial acumen with sound governance discipline to lead organisations. He was appointed to the inaugural Western Australian Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and holds Master Degree in Commercial and Resource Law from University of Western Australia, along with a Master degree in Cyber Security from Edith Cowan University. His blend of entrepreneurial leadership, advocacy for Aboriginal economic growth, education and health, governance experience and cyber and AI expertise positions him to add distinctive value to organisations.
