What you'll do:
Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for reliable and motivated Assistant Hostel Manager to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our facilities and hostels. As an Assistant Hostel Manager, you’ll work closely with the Hostel Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the hostel. You’ll lead by example, taking a hands-on approach to supervising a small team and ensuring residents receive high-quality service, including the provision of three meals a day in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Under the guidance of the Operations Management Team, you will be responsible for maintaining hostel operations in line with AHL policies, the APS Code of Conduct, and relevant legislation.
You will ensure compliance with AHL policies and operational guidelines, regularly report to the Hostel Manager, Operations Management Team, and liaise with AHL’s National Office as required. This role requires a proactive assistant manager with strong people skills, who can lead by example, and has a passion for delivering services that make a positive impact.

You’ll be confident working in a hands-on environment and supporting a small team to maintain smooth daily operations. You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming hostel, and the ability to follow established procedures and policies. You are solutions-focused, organised, and enthusiastic about working in a team that makes a tangible difference in the lives of residents.
Under the direction of the Hostel Manager and Operations Management Team, you will support the day-to-day operations of the hostel in accordance with AHL policy, procedure, the Australian Public Service (APS) Code of Conduct and relevant APS legislation.
